ICBC Takes "People's Award for Social Responsibility" for the Third Year Running

With the theme "Responsibility and Innovation", People's Daily (www.people.com.cn) hosted the "2010 People's Daily CSR High-Level Forum & Fifth Annual Award Ceremony on People's Award for Social Responsibility" on January 8 in Beijing. ICBC received the "2010 People's Award for Social Responsibility", the third consecutive year that the Bank has been conferred with such an honor.

"People's Award for Social Responsibility" is an award program run by People's Daily (www.people.com.cn) that aims to encourage innovation and sustainable development of corporate social responsibility initiatives. The award selection process includes combinations of qualitative and quantitative data analysis, online and offline questionnaires, case studies and interviews, scoring by experts and online votes. The winners were measured in five metrics of corporate governance, protection of interest and rights, company trust, environmental protection and social harmony. ICBC won praise and support from the judging panel and netizens and took the award.

Since going public, ICBC has placed high concern on social progress and committed to social responsibility while creating excellent return to shareholders and offering best-quality services to customers. ICBC embraces social responsibility agenda in its development strategy and business process restructuring in a move to reaffirm its own social responsibility program, an effective program that helps ICBC increase core competence, build brand and reputation. Wining the award for the third successive year is a confirmation from all on ICBC's years of initiatives in addressing people's well-being, contribution to the society, and the efforts to push the sustainable development of the community.
