ICBC Receives the "Brightness Contribution Prize" from Chinese Foundation for Lifeline Express Again

Earlier, Chinese Foundation for Lifeline Express presented the 2010 "Brightness Contribution Prize" to ICBC in recognition of ICBC's commendable efforts in poverty alleviation and blindness treatment. This is the second time for ICBC to win the award.

In 2010, ICBC donated RMB 2.7 million to the Foundation and set up the "Lifeline Express-Microsurgical Eye Training Center" in Inner Mongolia. The purpose is to improve the conditions on training eye doctors in the less developed areas and their surgical skills in order to provide adequate treatment services to more impoverished eye-disease patients. Subsequent to the donation of RMB 2,700,000 in 2008 to sponsor the project "Lifeline Express - ICBC Spreading Brightness in Kaili" and the donation to subsidize 1100 poor cataract patients from Guizhou mountainous areas to restore eyesight through surgery, this is the second time of ICBC to lend support to this vulnerable and disadvantaged group.

"China Lifeline Express" is the first mobile hospital eye-train in China dedicated to give free treatment to eye patients. The train is a gift from Hong Kong to the people of Mainland China to commemorate the return of Hong Kong to the Motherland in July, 1997. As of today, "China Lifeline Express" has developed into 4 trains to visit 105 stations in 83 areas of 27 provinces/city/autonomous regions and cured more than 110,000 impoverished cataract patients, having their eyesight restored through surgery.
